Michael Vallikappil, tenor
Michael Vallikappil is a native of Houston, Texas. He recently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, receiving his Masters in Vocal Performance (2022) and an Advanced Musical Studies Certificate (2023). As a student at Carnegie Mellon University, Michael performed the role of Count Belfiore in their production of La finta Giardiniera by Mozart (2021). He also performed the role of Harlekin in CMU’s production of Der Kaiser von Atlantis (2023). Michael also won the Philharmonic Soloist Competition at CMU (2023) and performed “On Wenlock Edge” by Ralph Vaughan Williams with the CMU Philharmonic Orchestra as a guest artist under the baton of Grammy Award-winning director James Blachly (2024). Michael resides in Brooklyn and sings with Ascension Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan.
Michael is passionate about teaching students of all ages and skill levels. He believes singing is a rich discipline that integrates physical, emotional, and intellectual experience. He loves preparing students for performances and recitals and helping them find their own unique, special voices.
