Yuliya Tingley

Violin / Viola

Yuliya Tingley started playing violin at the age of 4. Her first violin came as a birthday gift from her father. He taught her the first song she learned, and soon after that, her friends started to listen to her playing. It was her first performance and a very successful one! At the age of 6, Yuliya began studying at The Kursk State School of Music and Art, where she had stage performances and won her first competition. Later she took a running start in The Kursk State Music College to become a violin and piano teacher. Music became her passion and her future.

While still in college, Ms. Tingley started working in The School of Arts and became a leading teacher and Head of the Department of String Instruments. Her students regularly performed on stage and successfully participated in music competitions. Their performance was always bright and impressive. Yuliya later graduated from the State Teaching University with a master’s degree in teaching.

After moving to America from Europe in 2002, Yuliya continued private music teaching while working in a public school and always felt the value and advantage of the traditional classic education she received in Russia.

In 2009, Yuliya was certified as an Educational Leader and Mentor by the Washington state board of education. Her teaching system is based on an individual approach that helps unlock a potential talent in every student. She also believes that teaching children music offers benefits even beyond itself, which help to improve concentration and learning and develop a sense of creativity and communication. Music is a universal language that connects the world!
