Sheila Huang

Piano / Piano Group

A native of Taiwan, Ms. Sheila began playing piano at 6. Only two years later, at the age of 8, her piano performance debut took place at the Taipei Cultural Center Concert Hall. Sheila continued her piano studies and received her BM in Piano Performance from the Sheng-Te Christian College in 2003 in Taiwan. She was also a piano accompanist for the Taoyuan City New Century Women’s Chorus and the Sheng-Te Christian College Chorus. While living in Taiwan, Ms.Sheila had a bustling teaching studio. She taught students of all ages and levels with great success.

In 2004, Ms.Sheila moved to the US to continue her studies in music after receiving a scholarship from Eastern Michigan University. During her time at Eastern Michigan University, Sheila worked as a piano accompanist for an opera workshop held at the school. She received her Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano Performance in 2006.

Ms. Sheila has been a music educator for over 20 years. She is very proficient in teaching students of all ages and works hard to ensure that all of her students enjoy learning. Her students are of the highest caliber, always competitive and striving for high marks. Besides regular teaching, Sheila is adept at helping students prepare for both music exams, competitions, and recitals. Many of her students have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and have achieved high marks in the MTNA (Music Teacher National Exam).

Although very experienced, Ms. Sheila is always searching for new mediums to continue refining her teaching and craft. She has received training in Kodaly Methodology at New York University and training in Orff-Schulwerk with Danai Apostolidou Gagné, Judith Thomas, and Laura Koulish. She is also a member of the Kodaly Organization of New York and the New York Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.

Ms. Sheila is currently teaching at music schools in NJ and being an active piano accompanist. She has been a piano accompanist for the International Music and Arts Society and performs in competitions in the tri-state area.
